I only had two children, by choice, because I felt I wouldn't have enought time and energy for more. When it came to dogs, I did almost all of the walks, morning outs, vet trips, and training. Not to mention cleaning up the hair. There wasn't enought of me to take that work on the road. Love to see and pet RV dogs, but don't want one. Some would say it's my loss. I have a touchy back, and although I always did a lot of vaccuming when I had cats and dogs, I hated to get down and dust the legs or lower parts of end tables that trapped the dust and hair. I vote for a good fireplace with a faceplate design and air circulation fans. We had a beautiful Fireplace Extrodinair (not shure about the spelling) that really added a lot of warmth and was very nice to sit in front of in the winter evenings. The Santa Cruz mtns. didn't get below freezing very often, but we definitely needed heat. The upstairs fireplace reduced the propane demand. We also had a goof free standing wood stove downstairs that provided warmth to the lower level all day.

Something to consider very seriously is a pellet stove. Far less messy any a good heat source. No hauling in firewood or cleaning up every day. I think most wood stove inserts in fireplaces are not very nice to look at.

I will be interested to see what you decide. For now an extra space heater might be nice.Merikayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05378095339747943548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-324056683334131392.post-90466061629454204802014-12-28T20:58:04.842-06:002014-12-28T20:58:04.842-06:00The end tables or bedside tables are really creati...The end tables or bedside tables are really creative. Our gifts were all comsumeable or useful. Not much, but we feel we have everything we need or want. Went to a Movie in the afternoon. Something we rarely do. The only christmas decoration is a string of lights around the top of the Alfa that Craig put up. I stuck a few snowflakes up above the table, but we won't be storeing any of it. I always dreaded the dissapointments of christmas. We won't be traveling as extensively... After spending the summer in Colorado we realized we like different places and not being in one place all the time. David now has an online job that he can do anywhere. Just sold our house to our realtor and she is going to rent it back to us until we find an RV... doing the Class A route this time! So never say never! After living in 1600 sf, we prefer living smaller... and being able to move about in our home. We house-sat this summer and I didn't like living in someone else's house... so RV it is! We had our recliners. Eventually er redecorated and spent thousands on new furniture. The dogs each got new very very large soft beds. But how to keep them off yhe couches without a lot of yellinf and punishment?

I took a bunch of boxes and coveded them with fabric. They looked like pillows but were hard enough that they took up the space were the dogs liked to be. It only took a few "NOs" for them to learn. They had their beds and were happy with them. When we had company I stacked the boxes in the corners and no one was the wiser. The old couch went out on the deck for awhile so the older dog still had her place.

We all have our own limits. Cats were OK in bed, but not large dogs, and no animals were allowed to jump up on our kitchen counter or table.

You mention You would find it easier to live in an RV alone. I would find it hard to share that small a place with a large dog.Merikayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05378095339747943548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-324056683334131392.post-760823877046666562014-10-29T22:18:09.448-05:002014-10-29T22:18:09.448-05:00It sure looks like you have a great spot there. Never really being able to sleep in because I had to be up for her morning shot, and once up I was unable to go back to bed. Her blood sugar was never really under control, and after many dollars spent on her health care, I had her put down. She was almost blind, had anal cancer and a lunge tumor. It was a hard decision, a selfish decision, but I could no longer live for a dying dog. The vet said we could have kept her going for only a few more months, and the cancer was terminal.Merikayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05378095339747943548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-324056683334131392.post-38665644747435207532014-09-13T09:35:09.623-05:002014-09-13T09:35:09.623-05:00The property is perfect, the house is ok.
